Basic First-Aid Training
Basic First-Aid Training is not limited to healthcare professionals. In fact, it is something that any regular person should be able to learn. Accidents can happen anytime, anywhere, to ourselves, or to anyone. If we happen to be at the right place at the right time of any injury or emergency situation, it could mean the world to the person whom we are able to help if we are properly trained.
A course in basic first aid allows us, first and foremost, to learn how to assess a situation or site of the injury and to ensure there is no threat to personal safety before any approach is made. Being able to evaluate the type and extent of an injury will help us manage it properly until professional medical help is available. Techniques in doing a correct Heimlich maneuver, how to immobilize or stabilize limbs, how to manage wounds, burns, and control bleeding are some of the practical skills that are taught to the attendees.
As a certified personal trainer, these skills are essential as we interact with clients during the course of a training program. Accidents while handling exercise equipments, a bad fall or slip, or a wrong twist can lead to serious bodily harm if not managed properly. Understanding how the human muscular and skeletal system works also means understanding what needs to be done should any injury occur to it and, more importantly, how to avoid a potential serious injury.
