Sociological theories describe the rise of value systems at different times or seasons depending on the prevailing environmental conditions. Our surroundings create space for technological advancements and population interactions with impacts on our lives at home, work and community. The environment contains various resources required for human survival. Interaction with others in a given locality facilitates harmonious existence in the community. From the sociological theories, human beings completely depend on one another to obtain the basic resources for survival. I have to rely on this ideology on social ecosystem theory for effective survival at home and in the community. Career success at work will also depend on how I effectively relate with my employers and subordinates (Díez Nicolás, 2013).
We live in an environment of constant technological developments that are brought about by the industrial revolution. My value systems within the community will have to adapt to the prevailing technological changes. Investing at home in traditional forms of the economy such as agriculture is not sustainable in the current society. A value system change of industrialization in the modern community requires a transformation towards technological advancements. Acquisition of more knowledge on social setups will place me at the rewarded positions in the community. Social theories have influenced my future research on current social values and norms that are significant for the development of society. Knowledge places me at the social center of active communal involvement (Díez Nicolás, 2013).
The first sociological theory I learned is the social ecosystem theory. This theory places population to be a significant factor of an ecosystem and not individuals. Individuals’ survival is directly associated with the interdependent relationship of members within a community. Symbiotic interactions with colleagues at my workplace will be very important in developing my career. Departmental units have to share ideas or collaborate towards an institution’s vision to achieve organizational goals and objectives. The theory further recognizes that the population will only survive by utilizing the available resources within the environment. The human population often adapt through culture from primitive forms to highly elaborate origins that occur in two forms; material and non-material cultures. Through material culture, I have to collaborate with other community members to acquire environmental resources for survival. Non-material culture forms part of my socio-economic and political ideologies, value systems and beliefs. Civilized ideologies and belief will enable me to create a noble home or family (Díez Nicolás, 2013).
The second sociological theory I studied is the Industrial societies’ value chains. In this theory, values have transformed from materialism, scarcity and survival to post-materialist values involving self-expression. It also stipulates deviations from traditional values to more legal, secular and rational values. The emerging modern and industrialized societies enabled economic and personal security to a larger extent. It motivated post-modernization, characterized by a gradual decline of authority in all aspects of life through the rise of values such as emancipation, self-expression, and post-materialism. The theory enlightens me on my rights and freedoms in the community. I have a mandate over my preferences for goods, political leaders and personal opinions concerning my society. At work, I have the right to call for better working conditions. Value chains also influence my decisions at homes, such as parenting and sexual decisions. However, the value chains are inversely proportional to age. Each right and freedom has an appropriate age to be fulfilled as outlined by my community or country (Díez Nicolás, 2013).
The sociological perspectives of the social theories are vital for the modernized society. The social structure within our environment is faced with lots of population change. The dynamics of the population in our social institutions, such as family and religion, require mitigation through sociological theories. Various stakeholders can address inequality in our social class about deviance from social norms through the appropriate agents of socialization (Díez Nicolás, 2013).
