Unlike the US which ties its healthcare provision to employers, many developed countries offer healthcare to their citizens for free. Australia is one of such countries (Squires, 2014). The healthcare system used by the US has the advantage of making healthcare cheaper for the government. The US government ties access to health care to the employer since it is presumed to be cheaper compared to the universal healthcare access (Squires, 2014).
Compared to other developed countries, US has a higher per capita spending. However, the satisfaction index for its healthcare system is lower than that of other developed nations (Squires & Anderson, 2015). Prevention is better than cure. The US government should, therefore, focus its attention on creating a system that will help in preventing diseases rather than wait to heal sick people.
