Q&A Assignment

Question One

My favorite Theme park ride is Jungle Cruise. The film is set to be released on July 30, 2021. Its storyline centers on a British scientist, Dr Lily Houghton, who takes on a mission to search for the tree of life. The tree is said to have the power to cure diseases, and Dr Lily intends to use it in her research to develop medicine and help people. She takes her stubborn brother McGregor Houghton as her assistance. Despite her confidence and determination to find the tree, she understands that her journey will be difficult. Therefore, she hires Captain Frank, an experienced captain and trained marshal, to guide her through the journey. The most significant aspect of the film that makes it work for me is Dr Lily’s character. In most adventure films, women are portrayed as weak with high reliance on men for protection. They are even presented to have less interest in adventuring. Dr Lily takes on the “alpha male” image in the movie. She is strong as she is a good fighter and fit to protect herself. Frank’s role does not outshine her role as she does depend entirely on him for protection and strength. Moreover, she is virtuous and compassionate about people’s wellness.

My least favorite theme park is Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. The film is about a mysterious island, which the protagonist, Sean, goes to find his grandfather. He is accompanied by his stepfather, and a tour guide and his daughter. The movie did pretty well in Box office with a worldwide gross of $335.3 million. It was not exciting as the actors did not experience hardships in their adventures, making me experience adrenaline while watching it. The incidents were not as scary as it is with other films.

Question Two

I would define the term film franchise as movies that have multiply films or sequels and spin-offs. My favorite film franchise is Marvel cinematic universe. I think it works because of Kevin Feige. Feige is the president of the Marvel Studio. His creative ideas have enabled the Marvel Cinematic Universe to have a consistent story with the same actors. Besides, he conceived the idea of creating a shared universe that has helped Marvel Cinematic to be successful.
