Personal Reflection

The course activities and lessons have been quite educative and interesting. I have attained valuable knowledge that will be instrumental in my career moving forward. For instance, I realized that dialogue is not just an ordinary tool that helps us have conversations, but it can also play a vital role in a company. The dialogue process is a unique way for people within a group to listen to their thoughts as they communicate them to others and grasp different perceptions from the rest of the group members. It is important to note that the flow of information during this process may take different directions. However, the main objective of a dialogue is to allow different views and opinions in order to attain the best conclusive idea concerning the issue at hand. Consequently, it is quite important to apply the dialogue process while developing key organizational goals and strategies.

During the semester, I have also had a chance to handle different assignments, which play a critical role in my academic achievement. Assignments act as a pathway that professors use to measure our understanding of various concepts taught in class. Ideally, they are essential because they have helped me internalize the different perspectives regarding multiple subjects. Throughout the assesment preparation process, I dig deeper hence increasing my intellectual knowledge on the topic. For example, during the research process and group discussions, I analyze and assess different mindsets presented by other people. Various individuals display different opinions concerning a similar issue, but the interesting aspect is that they end up coming to an identical conclusion. Basically, people may use different ways to express their thoughts, but what matters the most their final decision concerning the issue.

The course has also brought out unique aspects that made me realize that leadership is a concept we interact with daily. For instance, decision-making and critical thinking are part and parcel of our daily lives. Evidently, a poor decision-making process always has a negative outcome which makes us cautious when determining the appropriate action to take. As an individual, every day, I know I have a choice to eat healthy diets for my personal benefit or take junk food and jeopardize my long-term health. Consequently, it is a tough decision since junk food is quite enticing to every sense of my being. However, regardless of the fact, I must make a strategic decision that will focus on my future and not dwell on the present. Ideally, this is a concept that one should apply at an organizational level. As a leader, one should concentrate on the future outcome of their decision by looking at the wider picture rather than the immediate benefits.

In conclusion, I desire to become a visionary leader and run a successful organization. I have made sure that I practice the leadership skills we learn in class to improve my performance. Nevertheless, my greatest concern has always been how leaders manage to remain focused on the goals and objectives set by an organization while maintaining excellent working relationships with the employees. I feel it can be quite challenging, especially if the employees are not performing towards the goal regardless of the leader using all the available options to keep them motivated. Ultimately, as a leader, these are some of the dilemmas that will require critical thinking to come up with the best decision.
