INTRODUCTION
ASPNJ operates under the legal mandate of the public law or rule of the New Jersey/ Board of Medical Examiners. This legal provision mandates licenses of the Board of Medical Examiners; a physician, a podiatrist and other practitioners to inform patients of important financial interests that exist and operate within the auspices of the healthcare services. The NYS Public Education Law 238 (d) (2) also mandates healthcare practitioners to communicate financial relationships with the healthcare services providers that patients have been referred. Of course, the patient can also find an alternative by seeking after healthcare services attention, from an institution of his or her own choice. ASPNJ provides a comprehensive list of alternative healthcare services providers that the patient can find in directories and other public documents. Additionally, ASPNJ highly regards the principles of medicine, to ensure that the patient benefits from patient-based care
Ambulatory Surgical Pavilion of New Jersey (ASPNJ) provides all the services and attention needed for surgeries that do not require an overnight stay in a hospital. ASPNJ is an ambulatory surgery (also known as outpatient surgery) which does even-day or same-day surgical procedures. One of the factors that contribute to ASPNJ’s uniqueness and effectiveness is its mission. ASPNJ seeks to provide its patients with a sense of peace and dependability, under the full assurance that the ASPNJ team delivers excellent caregiving, which is ASPNJ’s core values. The team consists of profoundly caring and highly skilled healthcare professionals who acknowledge the stressful nature of a surgical process. Because of this, ASPNJ’s workers aims at creating a relaxing and friendly environment so that the patient is guaranteed the best outpatient surgical services possible and available. In a closely related wavelength, ASPNJ’s original and present mission has been the establishment of the Ambulatory Surgical Pavilion of NJ. Even in the effort to install these ambulatory services, ASPNJ puts the comfort and care of patients first.
It is against the backdrop of the above that ASPNJ has confidence that whoever seeks its services from its facilities, is going to be attended to by staff members who have gone through a rigorous, highly selective and comprehensive recruitment process, before joining ASPNJ. ASPNJ makes its recruitment process rigorous, highly selective and comprehensive because it takes pride in providing the most qualified healthcare system in TOWN MD. Application of the recruitment process is on all nurses, doctors, physician assistants, healthcare staff members, and therapists. Everyone in ASPNJ’s rank and file is committed to providing its patients with the best services.
ASPNJ’S UNIQUENESS
ASPNJ is unique because it seeks to:
- Provide patients with peace of mind since providence of excellent care is paramount. This is the core value of ASPNJ.
- Give the best medical service through the use of the most qualified healthcare system in its tri-state area.
- Maintain a team of highly skilled and specially trained professionals.
ASPNJ’S STAFF
ASPNJ’s commitment to patient-based and high-quality care is fundamentally premised upon the healthcare organization’s human resources management (HRM) practices. Some of the salient features which define ASPNJ’s HR include:
- a rigorous and intensive recruitment process for all staff members
- a competitive remunerations package
- training programs.
Because of the high level of competence that is characteristic of ASPNJ’s members of staff, ASPNJ is confident that choosing its services is one of the most important personal decisions someone can make. Every member of ASPNJ staff is subjected to a rigorous and intensive process before being absorbed as an administrative officer, a nurse, a doctor or a therapist. The observation of this tradition ensures that there is uniformity in the commitment to teamwork and patient-based care among the rank and file of the organization. The human resources management measures that ASPNJ has put in place ensures that there is a consistent and uninterrupted flow in the provision of experienced, highly skilled and specially trained staff that provides outpatient services that are safe, stress-free, and comfortable.
ASPNJ also issues its employees with competitive remunerations, to keep its staff motivated and focused. The inspiration between ASPNJ’s issuance of an attractive remunerations package emanates from the need to consistently meet the performance target, seal any possible performance gap, ward off high (employee) turnover, and entrench self-motivation among members of the staff.
ASPNJ also makes several steps to consolidate competitive HR practices. Some of the HR measures the organization makes include: rewarding consistent and exemplary fulfillment of performance targets; routine use of workshop and training programs to sharpen employees’ skills, and to seal performance gap; and consistent and structural observation of transitional programs. The transitional programs ensure that skills are not lost through natural attrition, resignations, and disability.
ASPNJ’S OUTPATIENT SERVICES
Several factors aid in ASPNJ’s administration of outpatient surgery:
- Quality staffing State-of-the-art medical and auxiliary equipment
- One-to-one consultations with doctors, nurses and support staff
- Elaborate structures to guide patients and caregivers
ASPNJ’s services primarily include providing a broad range of outpatient surgical interventions designed to make potential and prospective patients’ choice of healthcare services safer, more affordable and flexible. The institution’s highly trained team of therapists, nurses, doctors and members of the administrative staff are always at the patient’s disposal, depending on the patient’s needs. This availability is more real when the patient qualifies for outpatient surgery. The hospital is equipped with all the needed modern medical and auxiliary facilities to help provide patients with the greatest extent of quality care possible and available. Patients are also accorded with the chance to consult their physicians, physician assistants, and nurses, to facilitate the creation and realization of a more comprehensive, customized and patient-based service for the patient and the patient’s loved ones.
ASPNJ manages to dispense its services by having clear structures and procedures to be followed by caregivers and patients. The patient visits the physician or anesthesiologist a day before the surgery.
S/he should also furnish the doctor or caregiver with:
- Copies of the patient’s medical records (more specifically, results of recent lab tests, cardiovascular and pulmonary tests and ECG readings)
- A comprehensive list of medical prescriptions that the patient has used (such as over-the-counter and prescription drugs)
- A list of past surgical procedures and medical problems (such as problems which materialized during previous surgeries), and a clear list of identified drugs which cause allergic reactions.
ASPNJ’S OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES
Some of the guidelines which shape ASPNJ’s operations include:
- Diet and medication
- Activity
- Expectations after a surgical procedure
ASPNJ places a patient on a diet regimen to facilitate the success of its surgical interventions. The patient is required to take a lot of fluids, before resuming to a regular diet as guided. The patient should also resume medication (including pain medication), as per the doctor’s instructions and prescriptions. He is also required to continue with the use of blood thinners Coumadin, Plavix, and ASA, just as the doctor has prescribed. In the event of pain in the injection or surgical site, the patient is required to take extra Motrin (commonly known as Ibuprofen) and Tylenol.
ASPNJ is also clear in dispensing the truth on what a patient should expect after the surgical procedure. Some of the things a patient should expect immediately in the post-surgery phase include, an increased pain between the first 24 hours and the next five days after the injection and surgery (together with a sense of tight feeling, stiffness, and fullness), and a bruise at the site the dose was applied. In the first case, ASPNJ advises that the patient should apply heat and ice to ease the pain and sense of stiffness. In the second case, ASPNJ recommends the application of ice in the injection site. ASPNJ’s comprehensive guidelines are some of the factors that have contributed to the endearment of the public to its services.
ASPNJ also makes it possible for the patient to contact the doctor, pronto, upon noticing the development of any post-surgical complications. Some of the problems that ASPNJ notifies patients to beware of are recurrent vomiting or nausea, skin rashes, wheezing, hives, shortness of breath, fever or chills, increased pain that is not relieved by regular means, and recurrent headaches that worsen when the patient is standing or sitting. The patient is accorded with a direct hotline to contact the doctor with, in case of an emergency.
